Chris Ciruli has been appointed to a two-year term as board member with the National Mango Board. The announcement was made on Wednesday by the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service. In his capacity as board member, Chris will be working with other mango industry leaders to increase awareness and consumption of fresh mangos.
According to the AMS release, promotion boards such as the National Mango Board aim to empower producers to “leverage their own resources to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities.” The National Mango Board has been working arduously since its inception to develop ways to better handle and promote the fruit while researching its various phytonutrient properties.
Ciruli Brothers is enthusiastic about Chris’ upcoming participation in the board. “I am honored for this opportunity,” says Ciruli. “Mangos are a very important commodity and as imports continue to rise, there is a lot of opportunity for retail sales of fresh mango to increase,” he adds. “It’s a wonderful fruit with a lot of potential and I’m looking forward to collaborating with my peers to find ways to not only educate the consumer but retailers and handlers alike about the many benefits that fresh mangos provide.”
